Free Hebrew voice typing on a computer: four free options, and what each one can do
There are a few free ways to type by voice on a computer, but not all of them understand Hebrew, not all of them work in every app, and most type exactly what was said. We compared the four common options against their official documentation: Windows voice typing, macOS Dictation, Google Docs voice typing, and Mesakem smart dictation.
What's the free way to type by voice in Hebrew on a computer?
On a Mac, macOS Dictation supports Hebrew and works anywhere you can type. On Windows, built-in voice typing (Win+H) doesn't list Hebrew among Microsoft's supported languages. Google Docs voice typing supports Hebrew, but only inside the document. Mesakem smart dictation works in Hebrew in any app on Windows and Mac, tidies up the text, and is free up to 60 minutes a month.

Plain voice typing versus dictation that tidies up
Plain voice typing types every word you said, the hesitation and the sentence you restarted included. Smart dictation types what you meant:
“um, set up a meeting for Monday, no, actually Tuesday at 10”
Set up a meeting for Tuesday at 10:00.
Three questions before you start
Which system do you use? On a Mac there's built-in Hebrew dictation; on Windows the built-in voice typing doesn't include Hebrew.
Where do you write? If only in Google Docs, its voice typing is enough. Everywhere else you need a tool that works in any app.
How much editing will you do? If the text should come out tidy, with the corrections you made as you spoke, you need dictation that tidies it.
Free to start. Unlimited when you need more.

Frequently asked questions about free voice typing
Is there free Hebrew voice typing?
Yes. On a Mac, macOS Dictation supports Hebrew; in Google Docs, voice typing supports Hebrew inside the document; and Mesakem smart dictation is free up to 60 minutes a month, in Hebrew and in any app on Windows and Mac.
Does Windows voice typing support Hebrew?
Hebrew isn't in the language list Microsoft publishes for Windows 11 voice typing (Win+H), as of October 23, 2026.
Is Mesakem smart dictation free?
Yes. Smart dictation is included in Mesakem's Free plan: 60 minutes a month, no credit card. On every paid plan, a paid plan's trial included, it is unlimited. The minutes renew at the start of each month, Israel time.
Which Hebrew voice typing software works in any app?
On a Mac: macOS Dictation and Mesakem smart dictation. On Windows: Mesakem smart dictation. Google Docs voice typing works only inside Docs.
What's the difference between plain voice typing and dictation that tidies the text?
Plain voice typing types every word you said. Dictation that tidies up writes clear, punctuated sentences, applies the corrections you make as you speak ("no, actually…") and removes filler words, without adding facts or changing your language.
Do I need an internet connection?
Windows voice typing uses online speech recognition, and Mesakem smart dictation needs a connection too. On a Mac, per Apple, Hebrew is on the on-device dictation list.
