Mesakem for researchers

Research interview transcription, with every quote one click away

For user research, customer discovery and academic interviews: record the interview live on Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, in person with the desktop or phone app, or upload a recording you already have. Mesakem gives you a transcript by speaker and a summary of the main themes, and every point links back to the participant's own words. Put a whole study in one room and ask questions across every interview.

How do I transcribe and analyze research interviews?

Record the interview with Mesakem, or upload an MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4 or WebM file up to 200MB. You get a transcript separated by speaker and a summary with the key themes, quotes and open questions, each linked to the moment it was said. Group the study's interviews in a room and ask, for example, what participants said about onboarding: the answer names the interview it came from.

How it works

  1. Get consent

Tell participants how the recording is used, before you start.

  2. Record or upload

Live on a call, in person with an app, or a file up to 200MB.

  3. Read the themes

A transcript by speaker and a summary of what matters.

  4. Check every quote

Jump to the moment it was said, and hear it, before you report it.

From hours of recordings to findings

A one-hour interview is hard to use as raw audio and slow to read as raw text. Mesakem adds a summary on top: the main themes, pain points, workarounds and ideas, with the full transcript underneath for when you need the exact words.

  • A transcript separated by speaker
  • Themes, pain points and workarounds
  • Open questions for the next interview
  • Every point linked to its moment in the recording

Quotes with their context

Click any line in the summary to jump to the exact moment, see who said it and hear it. You can check the context before a quote goes into a report, and edit the summary before you share it.

A whole study in one room

Group a study's interviews into one room and ask a question across all of them, such as "Where did participants get stuck during setup?" Each answer names the interview it came from, so you can go straight to the source.

Build a summary template that follows your interview guide, in a short chat with the AI, and every interview is summarized in the same structure.

Questions and answers

Can I upload interviews I already recorded?

Yes. Upload MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4 or WebM files up to 200MB from the dashboard. On the free plan each upload counts as one of your first 10 meetings, up to 90 minutes long.

Which languages can it transcribe?

Uploads can be transcribed in English, Hebrew and dozens of other languages. In meetings the bot joins and in the desktop app, the spoken language is detected automatically. Summaries are written in English or Hebrew.

Can I remove names before I share a summary?

Yes. You can edit a summary before you share it. Sharing is always your choice: by link, or by email to an address you verified.

Does it work for in-person interviews?

Yes. Record with the Windows and Mac app, or with the iPhone and Android app, and you get the same transcript and summary.

How much does it cost?

Your first 10 meetings are free, up to 90 minutes each, with no credit card. That is a one-time allowance, not a monthly one. Pro is $29 a month, or $19 a month billed annually, with unlimited meetings.

Are interviews used to train AI?

No. Your meetings, recordings and transcripts are never used to train AI, by us or by our AI providers. They are visible to you and to the people you choose to share them with.
